Title: Country Gate
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Additional Tools: VMToolbox Filter

Description: Country gate uses path shapes and VM Toolbox Filter.

Download the VM Toolbox filter here
Open a new image , standard size (640 x 480 ). 1. Take the pathdrawing tool , round rectangle and make a shape (23 wide x 207 high). On the top tool bar , click on "Object" and "convert object" and change from path to image. Take the erase tool, set to "straignt lines", shape round, size 11, soft edge 0, and erase the bottom of your shape to make it straight. Your shape should look like this.

2. I changed the color now to white, but you can make it any color . Go to effects, and find the VM Toolbox filter. Click on Brightness and noise. Settings(Intensity 169, Brightness 90. Click ok. Click on your paint tool, settings: color black, size 1, go to effects and "paint on edges". Your board should now resemble this.

Put this board aside for now, we will use it later.

3. With the path drawing tool, set on rectangle , draw a rectangle 48 wide x 199 high, color white, or whatever color you used for your other board. Follow the same steps you did with the board. Right click and duplicate this. Now we have the starting posts for our gate. Line them up like this.

Now bring the first board you did and line it up with the posts like so.

4. Dupilcate the first board 3 more time. Using the transform tool, resize, bring the top node up a bit on each board. Should look like this.

Duplicate the first three boards.

Go to edit, rotate and flip, and flip horizontally. Place them on the other side of your middle board.

5. Right click on your gate and select all objects, merge as single object. Take your pathdrawing tool , custom shape, and choose the heart shape. 3D Pipe. Change the border to 3. Place it in the center of your gate. Make the gate active and with the eraser tool , erase the middle of the heart.

Merge as single object.

6. To make the handle for the gate, with the pathdrawing tool, make a rectangle shape. Go to custom shape and pick the triangle shape (AO8). Make two of these and place them on the top and bottom of the rectangle.

For the hinges I used Custom shape Decoration 3. Place them on the left post like this.

7. Now you can leave the gate just the way it is or you can add more to it. I added a bit more to mine. You can decorate it any way you like, add some flowers or vines. "Have fun":)
